Whenever you are designing a website, it is key to take into consideration UX design. Once a user interacts with your site, the experience they have will determine whether or not they stick around. A UX design, or user experience, is a person’s reaction once they’ve interacted with a website, app, or product. This can include a range of issues from remembering passwords to personalization. Here are five key elements of UX Design.

1. User Experience

A key component of understanding UX design is understanding the difference between UX and UI design. Having an understanding of a unique experience is key to keeping users engaged.

Keep an eye on how people are interacting with your site. Are there areas in which there is little activity? In what spaces do you notice users have difficulty with? Keep these in mind in order to make a better encounter when in the design phase.

2. Learnability

One of the most important things about UX design is how easy it is for users to use. Every site is different but they operate in much the same capacity. The menu options are generally at the top of the page and recognizable, search bars are easy to locate, options for help are quick to access, etc.

While being unique is the goal, it is more important that your users can learn the way your site works quickly and easily. A difficult-to-use site will quickly lose traction.

3. Memorable

One of the best ways to make a website memorable is through the use of color . The right amount of color can draw someone in. Unusual background color can leave a lasting impression. Clever use of space can also leave a mark on users. Avoid clutter and empty space. This makes it easier for the eye to gather information rather than be overloaded.

Do something different. Give users something to do, such as a game. Have a video run in the background, or even use light language.

4. User Research

Study your target users. What are their needs? What areas do they struggle with? Understanding what your users are looking for and what they avoid can help you create a design that works for them. This allows you to find design opportunities, as well as expose any potential issues a user may have with your design.

5. User Testing

It is important that you test your design. While we produce the best design we can, we won’t know it’s full potential until there is genuine feedback. Details that may look cool, may not always provide the best experience.

To understand a site’s full potential, it is always best to send it out in order to smooth out the hidden kinks and fix whatever issues that may not have been foreseen.

Conclusion

Having an easy-to-use and unique design is important for any website. If you need suggestions on how to get started, check out our services to see what we can do for you. Any questions? Go ahead and contact us.

In recent years, the legal landscape has witnessed a surge in the number of ADA-related lawsuits and demand letters, particularly focusing on web accessibility. This shift has put numerous businesses under scrutiny, with hundreds of thousands receiving demand letters annually. Surprisingly, only a small percentage of these cases end up in trials, as most are settled beforehand. The year 2022 saw a record-breaking 3,250 ADA web accessibility lawsuits filed, shedding light on the pressing need for businesses to ensure their websites comply with ADA regulations.
