Common Mistakes Made When Choosing a Video Production Company

Looking for a video production company can be a challenge. But not to worry, avoiding these common mistakes can help the process be easier and that much smoother.

Big vs Small

When choosing to create a video for your business or product, it is important to consider the type of experience you are looking for. Bigger companies mean more money. That money can provide high-end technology and a large production crew to handle each need specifically. A larger production can mean a great quality product.

Boutique studios have a smaller crew to work the project which allows for a unique one-on-one experience and greater attention to detail. Smaller teams mean a better chance to get to know those who are making your dream become a reality.

Greater production vs attention to detail. Large production costs vs specialized spending. The bigger the studio, the more likely they are to pick and choose projects that are worth their while. Smaller studios will take smaller projects as they can reach the necessary goals.

While Bigger can be better, sometimes the benefit comes from a smaller crew who works together like a well-oiled machine.

Pricing

Don’t let the price tag fool you. Low-cost services may feel easier on the wallet, but that doesn’t mean they will be beneficial to the company. In the end, it could cost more as completed projects may need to be remade with another company.

Just because the bill is large doesn’t mean it is better. Being aware of what a project roughly costs will help be a guide for the best pick. Some companies may charge more than they are worth and others may be “you get what you paid for”.

Consult the budget. What can you afford? What amenities are a must and what can be left aside?  Be aware that quality is not cheap. Paying for a craft is more than just materials, it is experience. The people you pick to work for you are skilled in their area of expertise and their goal is to make sure that your vision becomes a reality.

Zero Research

Any videos created will be a reflection of the company. Low quality may instill the wrong impression on the audience. Video production is a specialized skill. Hiring a specialist for the project can greatly affect the final result. Understanding what will be required for the project is the best way to ensure the right people are called.

Take a look at multiple companies to decide who will best suit your needs.  Comparing companies can help narrow the search and produce better end results.

Taking Face Value

When looking for a company or agency to work on your envisioned project, make sure to take a dive into who they are. Read about pages and learn what each team member specializes in. Go through their portfolio and see if you approve of what they have done.

Don’t be afraid to send an inquiry. Ask what kind of equipment they have, what tools they utilize, their experience, etc. Companies who are true to their word are not afraid to let you know how they are able to help you to the best of their abilities.

Lack of Outline

Before taking an idea to a video agency, it is important to understand what will be needed. Budget, goals, and deadlines are just a few things that can make project ideas clearer.

Providing a clear deadline opens the line for communication of whether or not a project can be completed in time. Understanding the budget allows companies to present an ideal package. Clear concise goals allows a company to understand the direction.

Having an outline ready to go before meeting with a potential video agency gives the impression that you are prepared and ready to go. An outline cuts down on meetings and phone calls that could take time away from the project.

In recent years, the legal landscape has witnessed a surge in the number of ADA-related lawsuits and demand letters, particularly focusing on web accessibility. This shift has put numerous businesses under scrutiny, with hundreds of thousands receiving demand letters annually. Surprisingly, only a small percentage of these cases end up in trials, as most are settled beforehand. The year 2022 saw a record-breaking 3,250 ADA web accessibility lawsuits filed, shedding light on the pressing need for businesses to ensure their websites comply with ADA regulations.
